Welcome to The CHAFAR (Children and Forests are Alabama's Resources) Tour, an annual bicycling event to raise funds for Alabama's children's hospitals. The tour is a 454-mile trip through some of Alabama's most beautiful, vibrant and productive forests, and is organized and sponsored by many of the people that manage and work in these forests: The Alabama Logger's Council and the Alabama Forestry Association, through the Log-A-Load-For-Kids program.
The Tour is open to the public, and although it averages 76 miles a day, it has been designed for comfort, convenience, and fun. You do the miles, we do the rest. Riders can sign-up to cycle the entire distance, or for just a leg of the tour. The routes page provides a map as well as the stopovers and miles that will be covered.
Riders can register with a 25% deposit, and pay the balance by September 7, 2010. The ride will begin on October 7th and end 6 days later with a celebration at the Grand Hotel in Point Clear, Alabama.
Making the ride a success for the children in Alabama’s Children’s Hospitals will take a lot of help. If you're not riding, please consider supporting the Tour as a sponsor or as a volunteer, or make a donation.
If you have questions, give us a call at 256-383-8990 -- that's what we're here for -- and remember, all money raised goes to Children's Miracle Network, to benefit the patients at Alabama's children's hospitals in Birmingham and in Mobile.
